Welcome to Moonlight Wellbeing Psychotherapy

MEET OUR THERAPISTS Natalie Shafer, LPC, NCC, CYT Moonlight Wellbeing Business Manager, Licensed Professional Counselor, Nationally Certified Counselor, Certified Yoga Instructor Natalie practices an integrated psychodynamic approach and believes that our connection to the world and to those around us defines the human experience. Relationships can help advance a healthy sense of self, which is especially true of the therapeutic alliance, where multicultural awareness, kindness, empathy, and understanding are the building blocks for growth. Natalie’s clinical experience includes adult, senior, and couples counseling for those seeking support for anxiety, depression, sociopolitical distress, relational/attachment challenges, grief management, somatic attunement, life-stage developmental concerns, and trauma recovery. Natalie is a licensed professional counselor in Illinois and a nationally certified counselor. Natalie is also a certified yoga instructor and a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA). Prior to clinical mental health counseling, Natalie worked for more than two decades in food and nutrition marketing and advocacy, so she understands the impact of career and lifestyle changes on identity and overall wellbeing. Adam Shafer, PsyD Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Founder of Moonlight Wellbeing Dr. Adam Shafer understands the healing process as one of self-determination through therapeutic empathy. Looking through the lens of attachment, psychodynamic theory, and existential thought within ecological and systemic perspectives, Adam provides compassionate and caring support with an appreciation for the pressures that impact the quality of how individuals, couples, and families live their lives. Being curious with sensitive honesty makes Adam a good fit for people who are open to self-exploration as a means for finding deeper personal/interpersonal connection. Areas of focus in Adam's treatment includes working with individuals, couples, and families from diverse cultural backgrounds who find themselves struggling in relationships, depression, anxiety, complex trauma, psychosis, and grief/loss. With a sensitivity toward helping people find meaning and purpose in their lives, Adam is particularly inclined toward understanding identity and life-stage issues spanning from early development into aging adulthood.
